I think it is appropriate to first define “spam”;
SPAM: “Generally speaking, spam refers to unsolicited, bulk, electronic messages sent by an unknown entity.”
“While most commonly referred to in the context of unsolicited commercial e-mails, spam also comprises non-commercial e-mails, instant messages, chat room messages and mobile phone messages that are sent from unknown sources without the recipient’s consent.”
Here is an example of the retaliation from a member of the United Methodist Church of the West Virginia District. This email was sent to me in response to my response to UMC member Leonard Sweet who had recently defamed online discernment ministries who had confronted Leonard Sweet because his published teachings collided with Scripture. I too had confronted Leonard Sweet who refused correction and would not even respond to my emails. So in compliance with Matthew 18, Matthew 5, Ephesians 5:11, Titus 1:9 and 3:10, I obey Scripture.
“I don’t know who you are. I don’t know anything about accusations regarding Dr. Sweet. I did not ask for this email It is hateful in tone. It is spam. It is illegal. Do not send me anything more. I have forwarded it to [email protected]“
I immediately talked to a Verizon representative on June 15, 2010. He said anyone can complain, but he told me even if a thousand complaints were sent to Verizon at [email protected], that they would not terminate my account. Spam should also not be confused with abuse. First of all there is no abusive or slanderous language in my emails. Secondly, it would not be abuse unless I repeatedly sent the same person emails after they requested to be removed from my mailing list. Finally, the Bible entitles me to warn him twice. And reciprocally, the Bible gives him or her the same command…that is if he or she is a Christian.
Here is another response by the director of an organization that promotes the magic arts of psychotherapy and is integrated with the Assemblies of God. Note absolutely NO concern whatsoever for the victims of a local AG church that was hijacked by the AG District. His primary response is to ad hominim attack me personally. He did not address the arguments and used no Scripture to refute me. The Holy Spirit does not contradict its own Scripture. A Christian must be open to hear my response. He has blocked the ability to comply with Scripture. His term “unresolved hatred and anger” is the typical psychobabble term to label and hang on anyone you subjectively choose to assign it. Cowards do not resolve arguments by refusing to address the merits of the argument. So how does the Holy Spirit work within this framework? The Holy Spirit requires Mr. Durst to supply evidence that I have born false witness against the Assemblies of God for what they did by seizing the property of a local church who owned the property and it was that local church and its board members whose credit would have been affected were it ever to default on its mortgage. Mr. Durst’s response is typical of AG and Christian and Missionary Alliance and Southern Baptist Purpose Driven pastors and followers who take RIck Warren’s template and advice quite literally in dealing with “resisters”. I guess Mr. Durst has never had his local church stolen to know how his fellow brothers and sisters in Christ feel. Since Mr. Durst has blocked me from responding, I have no recourse but to expose him publicly before the whole church. His letter:
“I do not want to receive another email from you…I know truth & your responses clearly are unresolved hatred & anger as evidenced by your email. Please allow the Holy Spirit to soften the callousness of your heart!”

This so-called ministry which uses so-called science to minister to and rehabilitate Christians more closely resembles the Good Samaritan from Hell. Where is the charity in this response? Assemblies of God leaders levy charges one of their pastors for what they call “Ministerial Ineffectiveness” which is cause (per the District) to dismiss a pastor and take his credentials away – unless of course he resigns and goes through ‘rehabilitation’. The shattered pastor is then forced to go to Emerge – which is a counseling place run by the A/G for “ministerial ineffectiveness”. Emerge is who the letter above is from!
Here are other examples of my responses to Christians complaining that I am spamming them:
JAMES SUNDQUIST RESPONSE TO PURPOSE DRIVEN WARRENITES:
“Are you saying a Christian can’t send an unsolicited email to another Christian, or even a church that claims its teachings are Christian? If this is true. Martin Luther had no business posting his “unsolicited” 95 Theses on the Wittenberg Door. Paul spent most of his ministry preaching to “unsolicited” and even hostile audiences. Besides this, the leaders of your various groups have virtually placed a banner on your site advertising themselves, with name and email address. So this tells me that they are willing to receive inquiries and commentary regarding Rick Warren. Are you telling me that they are only interested in receiving emails that toe the party line and are in complete agreement with the teachings they promote? If this is your position, you should put that disclaimer by every email address, because someone else at some point is bound to also send an email letter of concern to them….only to get blasted or have their email ignored. And God help them if they send the same person two emails on the subject. I know this because at the East Coast Prophecy Conference where I spoke, I had God-fearing members from churches all over the country come up to me in despair at the same kind of responses they were getting at Rick Warren’s PDL churches for questioning his teachings and the churches implementing his programs, only to be vilified and marked as trouble makers, and in many cases ousted from their congregations. But I had thought better of you, having visited your church.”
”What I am doing is not harassment or unethical. I also sent an email courtesy announcement of my book to your Christian Bookstore. This is a common practice in both Christian book and music publishing. Haven’t you ever received unsolicited emails announcing events, books, or movies such as Passion of the Christ? This is common practice for ministers to receive these kind of things. Do you flame all of them back too, as you have me? Do you think this constitutes harassment, as Tim Reich has postulated? You may not want me communicating this information to others in your church, but you do not have a right to demand that I no longer email other people associated with Eugene Christian Fellowship, unless the recipients themselves ask me to stop. And why wouldn’t you want to let these members think for themselves? Isn’t part of your job to equip them to rightly divide the truth? Why don’t you allow them to be good Bereans and search the Scripture themselves to see if what I am saying is true? You have accused me of follow up up emails individuals who have asked me to stop. In every instance I have honored those few who did request that I send them no more emails. The only examples in which I sent more emails to was to those who responded to my emails, such as yourself. There are degrees of responding to an alleged offense to a brother in Christ which normally should begin with appeal, exhortation, encouragement, if that does not work then do the same but bring two or more to do the same, the next level would be adjure, abjure, admonition, then rebuke, then sharp rebuke, as the last resort. This would be a more natural, loving, and spirit filled process. You and Tim Reich did not follow any such path with me. You both further did not even give me an opportunity to respond or dialogued before your both nuked me. I have not been disrespectful to either of you!”
