CELEBRATE RECOVERY VS. SCRIPTURE

Chapter 8 Excerpt from WHO’S DRIVING THE PURPOSE DRIVEN CHURCH?

SINNERS-ANONYMOUS—IS THIS A BIBLICAL MODEL?

This morning I was curious why the word “anonymous” is in Alcoholics Anonymous, particularly since Anonymous groups are pillars in the PDC/CGM Theology through such programs as Celebrate Recovery. So I went to the AA website and found out. Something seemed rotten in the State of Denmark, but I could not quite put my finger on it. I knew the CGM/PDC has a host of Anonymous Programs in its churches and curriculum, including a sexaholics anonymous type of program. There are several problems I have with the program in general, Biblically speaking, such as we are “powerless.”  Would a sex offender say he is powerless to obey God? Or if he has a victim mentality, would he say, “I just can’t help myself from molesting children”?  These issues, including the concerns over “a higher power” are well known and addressed already. But the “anonymous” issue stuck in my craw. This was not as easy to discern, as there are issues of sin in our lives which could remain anonymous, or at least known to only those involved in the offense (both the perpetrator and the victim(s) and to one or more who are spiritual to help lead them to repentance.) But here is the major breakdown with “anonymous” regarding what the Bible says about it. Read more…

RESPONSE TO ASSEMBLIES OF GOD LEADERS

RICK KNOTH & ROGER COTTON’S CHARGES AGAINST KAREN PANSLER

Dear Rick Knoth and Roger Cotton,

I am in receipt of your letters to Karen Pansler regarding her published article entitled: http://www.libertyadvocate.com/Bewitched%21.htm

Here is my response:

JUDGING INTENT
You have both accused Karen Pansler, but have failed to supply proof that she has borne false witness against either Alton Garrison or Rick Warren. I remind you that Scripture clearly states that bearing false witness against a brother (sister) is an abomination to the Lord. As to your charges that Karen Pansler is judging the “intent” of Alton Garrison’s heart, even if his intent were noble, false teaching must still be exposed. Garrison’s intent is revealed in his own writing. Why don’t you lay those charges at the Apostle Paul’s feet when he cursed the Judaizers in Galatians? Karen Pansler was tame in her article description of Garrison and Warren’s teachings compared to Jesus Christ’s description of Pharisees calling them a brood of vipers. Tame in comparison to Paul’s description of the teachings of Hymenaus in calling it gangrene. Tame in comparison to Peter and Jude’s description false teachers and false brethren: “accursed brood”, “twice dead”, “wild waves foaming up their shame”, “wandering stars”…or whom the blackest darkness has been reserved forever.”

WORLD VISION BETRAYS ISRAEL

Author James Sundquist

James Sundquist

Mr. Haas, Vice President of World Vision, is a collaborator and co-conspirator with Stephen Sizer, bringing a curse down on himself re Israel. Here is why he is also a traitor to Israel betraying them:

http://www.stephensizer.com/2010/03/steve-haas-world-vision-vp-endorses-with-god-on-our-side/

This brings a whole new magnitude to the urgency of sounding the alarm on his Holy Hill about him and World Vision.

Now I am compelled to add his treason to my expose on them as well as warn all of the ministries in Israel I know.

Hitler and the Muslim Brotherhood have also sought to dispossess Israel of the land that God gave them.

Author James SundquistA BIBLICAL RESPONSE TO RICK WARREN’S BATTLE OF THE MIND SPEECH AND PANEL RESPONSE
OF
2010 DESIRING GOD CONFERENCE

BY JAMES SUNDQUIST

Rick Warren’s “Battle of the Mind” Speech at the Desiring God 2010 THINK Conference (which Rick Warren did not attend but presented on videotape) resulted in a torrent of emails to me from Christians who were alarmed.  I also received a number of concerns about the response from John Piper and his panel at the conference after hearing Warren’s speech.  I had not planned on even listening to the speech because there had not yet been any formal or public repentance from Rick Warren for all of his false teachings in his Purpose Driven Life book or for the destruction he has wrought in churches all over the U.S. (a repentance speech is a speech that I would have made sure to hear).  But the indignation over the “Battle of the Mind” speech had grown so large, I felt compelled to view it and respond.  Before this I had appealed to and warned John Piper because he had invited Rick Warren to speak at his 2010 Desiring God Conference.  My appeal can be read at:

John Piper did not listen to me or a host of other Christians who appealed to him or publicly rebuked him or Rick Warren.  Also see:

for Tim Challies’ appeal regarding Warren’s appearance.  John Piper invited him anyway.  What follows is my response to Rick Warren’s speech as well as my commentary on the Panel’s response at the 2010 Desiring God Conference.  I agree with Tim Challies.
